Wife, working mom of young kids, athlete, and occupational therapist for children and seniors, Debbie had her first real taste of healthcare at the age of 16 when she suffered a spinal cord injury in an emergency accident.

She came into contact with many nurses and doctors throughout her care and recovery. “Those experiences inspired me to be a good provider and show compassion towards the people I care for,” said Debbie, a licensed occupational therapist for 20 years.

Today, Debbie continues to pay it forward in her busy lifestyle as she is dedicated to providing the highest quality of life for her family and the patients she cares for, and she does not have extra time to manage sensitive skin issues that frequently arise with the children and elderly patients that she treats.

“As a mom and an OT, I think that I offer a unique perspective on wound care as I work hard to help my patients live a more productive and independent life. With the sensitive skin that my most of my young and elderly patients have, we seek creative ways to put our patients in a comfortable state of mind, and the last thing that I want is to create something else for them to think about with the additional pain that can occur when removing a wound dressing.

I need to understand how a wound will affect a patient as I strive to relate to their individual needs, limitations, and adaptabilities. With Comfort Release® wound coverage options, I know that my kids and patients will have the optimal adherence when it is on and it will be pain free when it’s time for removal.

With Comfort Release, I have the confidence that my management of a wound will not create another wound. And with that confidence, I can invest more care and time into my patient’s treatment and recovery. When they say my name and sincerely tell me thank you — that is the best feeling of all!”
